Gabi Madrid is a multidisciplinary artist based in Atlanta with their workshop at South River Art Studios. Gabi works with a wide spectrum of materials ranging from metal to wood to found objects. The artist has an opening for a position for a studio intern in the creation of artwork, as well as private commissions and other installations.

Internship Description: 

Gabi Madrid is seeking an individual with an interest in woodworking, metalworking (welding & forging) and other forms of fabrications. The candidate does not need to have experience but a willingness to learn shop safety, working with power tools, and humility to be a studio assistant. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Internship Includes: 

  • Assisting in projects from concept to completion as needed. This can include metalworking, woodworking, painting, design renderings, community workshops, sorting found objects, indoor and outdoor onsite installation

  • Understanding and participating in safety responsibilities while in the studio - Intern accepts inherent risks of working with power tools, saws, high-heat torches, welding, and must wear appropriate clothing and protective gear

Details:

  • Internship runs near the dates of Feb. 1st - May 1st

  • Able to work 10-15 hours a week

  • Able to commute to the studio (off Moreland Ave, south of I-20)

  • Weekly stipend of $100 and use of studio + tools/equipment
